Happy Valley has a mix of older mid-rise blocks (pre-1980s cast iron pipes) and newer luxury towers (PVC). The older buildings on the side streets near the racecourse are especially prone to recurring cast-iron-related blockages — rust scale catches debris faster than smooth modern pipes.
