The usual culprits in Hong Kong are leaves, soil, construction debris, tree roots, cooking-oil poured down the back door of restaurants, and the mud that washes in during heavy rain and typhoon season (May–September). Our on-site process

1. Locate the blockage — visual inspection of all surface channels, downpipes and manholes on the property; identify upstream vs downstream issue.
2. Open the manhole / access point safely — we carry manhole keys and confined-space procedure for deeper chambers.
3. High-pressure water jetting (200–400 bar) — cuts through grease, soil and root mass; standard for outdoor work because mechanical snakes cannot negotiate the wide outdoor pipe.
4. CCTV inspection of the cleared line to confirm the blockage is fully gone and check for cracks, root intrusion or pipe collapse.
5. On-site water-flow re-test — we run a hose for 3–5 minutes and confirm water runs clean to the main sewer before we leave.

FAQ — outdoor drain clearing in Hong Kong

My balcony drain floods every time it rains hard. Can you fix it permanently?

Usually yes. In most HK flats the cause is a mix of leaf/debris build-up at the drain grate and a partially-blocked horizontal pipe under the slab. We jet the line, remove the debris, and CCTV-check the pipe. If the pipe itself has collapsed (common in pre-2000s blocks) we will show you the footage and quote a separate repair — we never do surprise demolition.

Do you handle restaurant grease traps and back-alley drains?

Yes — grease-trap and F&B back-alley work is one of our specialities. We carry hot-water jetting equipment and biodegradable degreaser for the solidified oil that ordinary snakes cannot remove. Restaurants typically book a quarterly maintenance clear to stay compliant with FEHD trade-effluent rules; ask about a maintenance contract.

Can you open the manhole on my property?

Yes, if the manhole is on your property line or you have the owner's permission. We carry standard manhole lifting keys and follow confined-space procedure for chambers deeper than 1.2m. If the blockage is in the public sewer (beyond your property line, under the public road), we will tell you — that is the responsibility of the Drainage Services Department (渠務署) and we cannot legally work on it.

Do you come out during typhoon Signal 8 or black rain?

Yes — we run a 24-hour emergency line throughout the year including typhoon and black-rainstorm periods, subject to technician safety. Will the roots come back after you clear them?

Root intrusion through cracked clay or VC pipes (very common in NT village houses and older Kowloon low-rises) does recur every 6–18 months if the pipe crack is not repaired. We offer two options: (a) periodic re-jetting as maintenance, or (b) a quoted sectional pipe relining / replacement. We will show you the CCTV footage and explain the trade-off so you can decide.
